Sculptures

My medium of choice is polymer clay for my sculptures. I also often combine precious metals with clay. My 3-dimensional portraits are born of a desire to preserve some of the costumes and peoples of tribes that globalization are slowly eradicating. The colors and customs involved in the various adornments are fascinating. Often the craftsmanship is exquisite in the detail and artistry of their clothing, or jewellery.

In other cases the majesty of the individual's baring, or the timeless wisdom in an elder or child's eyes are the sole motivation. Occasionally I am inspired by the often eerie beauty found in a lone tree or magnificent vista. Sometimes just a concept like courage, determination, or creativity becomes the subject matter that spurs my creations.

Whatever the source, the heart and soul of this artist goes into each piece I make. Each piece is one of a kind and special in its own way.
