Greetings....

My name is Thelia , my friends call me "Ti" (pronounced Tee).   I am an artist. I am a jeweler and a sculptor. All I create has meaning. I was born in Montreal in 1963. I went to college and university there as well as gave birth to my two children. In 1998 I started working with clay and developed my skills at sculpting. I was making figurative reproductions of tribal portraits, some in ceremonial dress, others are just facial studies, illuminating the subjects' inner beauty. Being married to a Native American for many years in combination with my own ethnic origins provided the basis for my fascination with aboriginal cultures and values.

I found universal beliefs in various world tribes. I was compelled to recreate some of what I had discovered.  I had just started to make inroads in the Montreal art scene when my husband was transferred to Calgary, Alberta in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. I took the opportunity that location presented to me and enrolled myself in the Jewellery and Metals program at the Alberta College of Art and Design.  I was blessed with brilliant teachers including Chales Lewton-Brain, a modern pioneer and pillar of the art jewellery field.  I have been working in silver and gold since then.  it was pointed out to me that montains are the largest crystals or gems in our world.  Each day I have only to look outside my windows towards those mountains and I am inspired.

Jewellery has always been something that had  fascinated me, both as a collector and as an artist. I bring the same beliefs that I applied to my sculpture to my jewelry. I was once told that all jewelry is in fact anthropological artifacts. We pass individual pieces on as our most treasured sentimental possessions, sometimes over many generations.

Every piece we use to adorn ourselves has a certain meaning to us. My jewellery pieces are especially so, whether due to its symbolism, or the therapeutic effects of the stones on the pieces, or the sentiment attached to a given piece. Due to my nature as well as that of my subject matter, each one of my pieces is a unique, one of a kind item, signed with my mark '"Ti".

I hope each and every bearer of each piece I design and make will tap into the positive energy in my work. Blessings.
